Common Creature is two exquisite musicians from Sweden and Finland: Sarah Riedel on vocals/
zither and Joonas Kuusisto on acoustic bass guitar/vocals/effects.
While the duo’s concept is small
their visions are big. Together they create an intensive soundscape, which is reduced and unique. Two
strong and personal voices meets each other in a detail-rich world somewhere between pop and jazz –
full of fascinating lyrics, delicate melodies and rolling bass figures.

Sarah Riedel, daughter of distinguished film composer Georg Riedel, has been involved in music since the age of five. She studied music at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, graduating in 2009. Soon after, in 2010, she released her debut solo album “Memories of a Lost Lane” which earned her the Swedish Radio Jazzkatt –award nomination. The album was voted as one of the Top 10 albums of 2010 in the newspaper Dagens Nyheter.
Joonas Kuusisto, also a graduate of the Academy of Music and Drama and one of Finland’s premiere bass players, recorded his first album with the band Kauhukakara in 2008 and followed up with the “Pete’s Game Machine” –album by the group Defekt in 2010. Both albums featured compositions by Joonas. In 2011 Joonas teamed up with Kauhukakara for a second album “Eläinten Fanfaari”, receiving glorious reviews.
Common Creature had been in existence for several years, originally with another singer, but it was only when Sarah joined the duo in 2010 that things started rolling forward. The band recorded the album “Daydreamers” which was released in December 2011 supported by short tour of high profile concerts and appearances on Swedish TV4.
