About us
Eclipse Music was founded in 2007 by Tapio Ylinen, a musician, songwriter and theatre director.
Mr. Ylinen was born 1980 in Kuopio, Finland and moved to Tampere after graduating from high school in 1999. He recieved his master's degree in musicology in 2006 from the University of Tampere where he also studied theatre and drama. After his university studies he has worked as a teacher of musical treory, a radio journalist, a composer and a theatre director.
After founding his own record label, Eclipse Music, he has produced several top quality records for jazz artists like Laser, Kauhukakara and Skalle & Sharon. He also produced the music and conducted the orchestra for a stage production called "Väkivaltamusikaali" (The Violence Musical) which premiered December 5th 2008 at the Student Theatre in Tampere.
As a treatre director Mr. Ylinen has worked extensively for The Student Treatre in Tampere, The Dance Centre of Eastern Finland in Kuopio, The Student Theatre in Kuopio, The University of Tampere and Tampere Polytechnic. He has written four plays and several other works and recieved great critical success for many of them.
As an actor Mr. Ylinen has worked in several theatre pieces, again most of them recieving critical success, but also on TV, music videos, short films and commercials.
In 2007 Tapio had the leading role in a radio drama called "Kaikkien kaveri" (A Friend of Everyone), directed by Timo Aalto. The production recieved the Best Fictional Radio Production -award at the Tornio Radio Festival. He has also recieved the Pro Musica -award from The Music Teacher's Assosiation in 1996.
Mr. Ylinen has been a member of the board of both the Student Theatre in Tampere and the Student Theatre in Kuopio (1999-2000 in Kuopio and 2003-2006 in Tampere). He was also chairman of the board of the Musicology Students Assosiation at Tampere University from 2001 to 2003.
Mr. Ylinen is fluent in Finnish and English but has skills in Swedish, German and Spanish as well.
